Off Topic: What my crazy family in Texas did on a fine Saturday morning

My mom and my sister each have these little chihuahuas. They also live in San Antonio, Texas, where every year at this time, the entire city parties for weeks during Fiesta.

Today was the annual Fiesta Pooch Parade.

I knew there was going to be some sort of trouble a few weeks ago when I heard this odd plan to float the dogs. They sat down and calculated how many balloons they needed to float each little dog. My mom sewed a special harness for each, even with a zipper to snug them in.

There is a contest at the start of the parade but my mom and sister got there too late as they were dealing with trucking the balloons down to the parade site.

When they got there and floated one dog (too many balloons popped for the other one to float) they were literally swarmed by professional photographers, videographers, TV cameras, and just people off the street.

They had a load of fun, Myra loved her perch, and they were all simply stunned by the attention.

Now they are wondering what they will do next year!

  Spare ribs: aherm – lets not talk about “normal”, eeeesh. I wonder what those people think about the rest of us?! I live a very boring life.. its all them down there in Tejas.. must be the water or the sun.
