For us, living in a small town, the problem with food banks may not be as obvious to the kids - but we've always given anything extra we can to our neighbors in need. My kids have been known to come to me to ask if we can help this person or another person. It's pretty cool. I've always emphasized sharing with those who need it. We do the same with the food bank. It has to be that way - but unfortunately, not everyone thinks like that.

I'm at the Georgia Street Garden on 12/6, along with many others, to help feed 100 people. I'm the mashed potato girl! One of the few things I make well is homemade mashed potatoes. So that's my job and I'm looking forward to it. I'll be taking a few photos and giving them to Cub for his website. He's doing so much for his neighborhood, it's mind-blowing.

Indeed - sometimes its hard to remember. When I look back over thanksgivings in my past (before kids, BK) the one I remember best is the one where I was on nutrisystem and far from home so I decided to walk into a shelter and volunteer on thanksgiving day. I stood behind the line and served people their meals all that afternoon - and it felt good to not think about myself and just smile and offer something that someone else enjoyed. The simplicity was awesome.

How right you are! It's important to remember that no matter how much or how little we have, someone is in worse shoes and could benefit from even the smallest bit of help.
