More Statistics and Tables of Beauty
Posted on Dec 08 in Behind the Scenes, Food Pornby NikaPrint

Last post I spoke of how part of our family was adding to some grim statistics, this post I am sorry to say that I have added my own numbers to the December jobless number – was laid off last Wednesday.
While the scene was a bit gory at work with some bombastic dramatics that left me shaking and crying (got to witness someone go postal, in person – first time for me) I am moving on.
I feel the pull of food photography, I am constantly aware of the quality of light spilling in through my windows and I am food styling in my head but I am too stressed right now to get the act together enough to make some beautiful food for you. I am also very conflicted about the holidays as a whole because spending will have to be 100% survival and no discretionary so Santa may be having to take a miss here.
I did get to do SOME photography tho and it was food related, was a good time.
This last weekend, I had the opportunity to shoot at an annual nationwide AIDS benefit called Dining by Design at the Boston Design Center. Brian of BT’s Smokehouse was serving up his spicy coleslaw and pulled pork in homemade waffle cones by invitation at this event.
The slide show above gives you a taste of the amazing tables that were put together for the event.

I’m very sorry to hear that. Hopefully things will work out for the better soon.
Nika, I am so sorry. I know you’re numb. We are expecting the hit soon, too. I hope your photography takes off and leaves you to pursue all your great culinary/farming ideas. I think you’re so resourceful and original.
I have been following your blog and it is unfortunate that you’re going through rather sad times.
It doesn’t sound like much, but I hope that things will look up soon. Maybe this will be the beginning of better things to come. I’ve never thought so at the time, but from my experience, when I look back I’ve found things do eventually get better.
Your pictures are lovely and I’m sure you will be able to concentrate on them once things settle down in your life.
